So, my ramblings on tonight's ep of Doctor Who behind the cut. Spoilers, FYI. (OT: I missed you tonight

So, tonight's second parter entitled "The Poison Sky" or as I like to refer to it "Lucy in the Poison Sky with Clone Food." (Random: I wonder if clones must be fed delicately, like fish.)
So, I thought the past two eps were good, and I was pleasantly surprised. I had thought Helen Raynor wrote "42" so I wasn't expecting much. ("Burn with Me" - Abstinence programs will never be the same.) I then realized after the episode (by realized, I mean looked it up on Wikipedia) that she hadn't wrote "42" - that was Chibnall a.k.a. Mr. I Want to Use the Series Finale to Alienate Most of Torchwood's Fanbase. Rolls right off the tongue, doesn't it? (Though he did work on LoM, he gets points for that.) Anyway, back to Ms. Raynor. I saw that she DID write "Daleks in Manhattan" and "Evolution of the Daleks." The bad episodes from last series must have blended together.
Anyway, I did enjoy both the eps. So, that was nice. Although, Ross? We liked Ross! Yes we did! You killed Ross! You bastards! *huggles Ross anyway*
As I was commenting on
mickey_sixx's journal, I don't usually go around looking at other people's thoughts before I've written my own, but I had to make sure I wasn't going crazy when I saw Rose flash on the screen. Good news, folks: I'm not crazy. And you're not crazy either, in case you wondering. Trust me on this. The voices in my head never lie. ;)
Let's play a little game I like to call "Did anyone else...?"
Did anyone else feel that Luke/Rattigan was like a horribly screwed up love child of Peter Pettigrew and Hermione Granger?
Did anyone else feel that the actor was hamming it on a bit too much?
Did anyone else start laughing hysterically when he broke down crying?
Did anyone else think this ep was a bit strong in campiness?
Did anyone else get annoyed by the fact that a good deal of the filler moments of the episode consisted of close-ups on spazzing out Doctor? We get it, humans are being stupid again.
Did anyone else love it when Donna hit the Doctor at the end?
Did anyone else want to let Martha and Donna know that the Doctor can regenerate, so he might be okay, no matter what?
Did anyone else like the return of Martha's TimeTravel!Hair?
Did anyone else not see the Luke sacrifice coming? I was truly surprised.
Did anyone else feel that Atmospheric Converter was just a fancy way of saying "Reset Button?"
Did anyone else feel the menacing music playing as the atmosphere lit on fire (wow, that's almost as weird typing as it was watching) sounded like something from The Wizard of Oz?
I also really like how Gramps is so encouraging of Donna's traveling. I've been thinking a lot lately about how they introduced us to Rose's family and friends (read: Jackie and Mickey) to get us to relate to the character more, but the more we saw of the gang, the more I found it a little hard to like Rose at times. The episode "Rose" had a wonderful set up as to why Rose would like to get out of there. But, then time after time, it felt like she was abandoning the people who cared about her -- especially when they started to de-shrill Jackie and made Mickey out to be a rather awesome guy, not to mention boyfriend. The family issue came up again when Martha kept blowing off her mom. I mean, I know I'm one to talk about a young woman leaving her family for months (or days in Martha's case) at a time to go off and do what she wants, but it's kind of an underlying issue for me when I think about Series 2 and such. I mean, I still totally love Rose but it's just something the writers did that bugged me. If that makes sense. /ramble
The next episode looks pretty good. The main plot setup has been out there for a while, so I know the major "How?" of the episode. Still, it should be neat. Georgia looks a little like Buffy from certain angles. Plus, her dad was quite the looker in his Doctor days, so the episode should allow me plenty of fantasies about young!Peter Davison. I won't lie though, at the end of the day, I'm still counting down the eps til Stephen Moffat's two parter.
Off to continue my current workings on my various fansites and such. I've been neglecting some of those sites so horribly. And, in typical me fashion, I want to start something new. Though, not a full on fansite. Just another daily comm, one for John Simm. I obtained a gazillion gorgeous pics recently and have to share them in some way, right?
