Series 2 is when everything changes
So, the series 2 finale of Torchwood aired tonight. My network has an annoying bandwith limit, so I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow at work to watch the episode. Not a huge loss, as I'll probably go to sleep early anyway. The exam went well this morning, but I still am lacking on some sleep. (BTW, thanks for all the good luck wishes!) Still, because I have nothing else to post, I've decided to do a picspam about series 2 so far (up until ep 12, that is) based on some stuff I jotted down in one of my classes while trying to keep myself awake.

Things I Learned in Torchwood Series 2:

First off, I've been relatively pleased with series 2. There's been a huge improvement over the first series (although, Series 1 did have some stellar episodes). Series 2 has actually had good plots and *gasp* character development! Well played, Torchwood, well played.

Apparently at Torchwood, one of the benefits of sleeping with the boss is getting a bigger role. Congrats, Ianto! Another character (well, characters) more front and center this series? Tosh's bewbies!

The writers of Torchwood totally read fanfic (or are possibly fanfic writers themselves). As many shrewd fans noted, the episode 'Adam' was like a bad fanfic come to life -- with an added meta element, or something like that. Adam was quite the Gary Stu, but he made the mistake of playing with the big boys, or boy rather: Captain Jack. Nobody beats Captain Jack in a Stu-off. See, in the Doctor's absence, Jack gets to play the character with a mysterious background who's attractive to everyone. He also gets to wear the Jesus/Savior hat, as demonstrated in his walk around the Table of Retcon:

RTD is pretty much begging to get copyright privileges over the use of creepy kids:

If you're a Torchwood member and are planning to die (you can usually predict this once you agree to go on a date with Tosh), make sure you have some information that Jack needs if you want to be resurrected:

So, Series 3 of Doctor Who taught us that Martha Jones is made of awesome and win. Ms. Jones popped into Torchwood and was praised incessantly by Jack (probably the most I've liked him since DW Series 1). Jack wanted to reminds us all of her awesomeness. The Torchwood writers, though, appeared to want us to forget it. They had Martha play damsel in distress in one episode and old and incapacitated in another:

And, on to the most educational episode this series: 'Fragments'

At one point, Darla and Drusilla became really bored and joined Torchwood:

Tosh spent time at Gitmo:

Ianto suffered the frustration of having the immigrants Torchwood Three taking all the jobs:

Pop Quiz: Which of the two following incidents did Jack find more homoerotic?

Trick question! Jack finds anything and everything equally homoerotic. He's Jack. (Just Jack!)

Spike, pissed at Jack for having more fun with Darla and Dru than he ever did, Princess Leias Jack with the message that he was the one who tried to kill Jack's team. Oh, and he also totally kidnapped Jack's plot point brother.

Now, credit where it's due, this series of Torchwood kept the theme of 'team' pretty subtle when compared to DW Series 3 and its theme of humanity. Of course, I haven't watched the finale, so I may be in store for a beating over the head.
